We had to find a way to lure a new audience, but what do they think of modern dance in the first place? We made a problem scope based of primary and secondary user research such as interviews and surveys. We were eager to find a way to connect our new audience with modern dance through a way that already is familiar to them: Street Art.

In collaboration with street artists from Rotterdam, we made a collection of collectable street art based of the dance exhibition that was taking place. Each dancer had a unique mural or kind of street art and the user can collect all of the dancers that take place in that exhibition. Why should anyone collect them? Because there are a ton of perks that come with collecting a dancer. Many prizes can be claimed. Prizes that are Scapino branded so that way, we are promoting them also.
Something that we found through user research was the fact that they would go and watch a show, if they know a dancer. With our collecting system, you also get a full background of who the dancer is and you get to know them personally. Just like you can get to know a singer or an artist.

We developped an app that makes it easy to collect and learn more about each dancer. We wanted the app to have as little friction as possible, and accessible for everyone. Therefore, we worked with React Native. It was our first time building an app, and that was the most challenging part. We managed to make a working QR code scanning system, map and guide to the street art and many other things.

This project took 5 weeks, so not everything is the way we envisioned in the beginning but we're close. There are still loads of opportunities that can be researched but the client was surprised with the amount of work we've done in such a short time. If they are happy, than we are to.
